What a high-pass filter does
A high-pass filter lets high frequencies pass through while attenuating frequencies below the cutoff. The opposite of a low-pass. Use it to remove room rumble, AC hum, mic handling noise, and other low-end junk that clutters your audio.
Recommended cutoffs
- 80 Hz — gentle general cleanup (most mixing engineers' default)
- 100-120 Hz — voice and podcast cleanup
- 200 Hz — telephone-style voice (aggressive)
- 40-60 Hz — preserve sub-bass for music
