How this pitch shifter works
The tool resamples your audio to shift pitch. +1 semitone is ~5.95% faster; -1 semitone is ~5.95% slower. Speed and pitch change together — this is the simple/direct approach. For pitch-only shift (preserved duration), you need a phase vocoder or WSOLA, which the Loudify app does natively.
Common semitone shifts
- +2 semitones — slightly higher, chipmunk-lite
- +5 semitones (fourth up) — chipmunk territory
- +12 semitones (octave up) — extreme high voice
- −5 to −7 semitones — deep movie-trailer voice
- −12 semitones (octave down) — slowed-and-reverbed effect
